Preserving the history of  the concord coach  and the abbot - downing company Home Home Home

The Abbot-Downing Historical Society has  completed a 13 minute video  about the Abbot and Downing companies and the famous Concord Coaches. This video is designed to be used in New Hampshire fourth grades during their study of New Hampshire  History. It is however, filled with facts and history that all ages will find interesting. We invite you to view it and to feel free to download it for future viewing.

Upcoming events

The July meeting will be held
July 10th at 6:30 at the Barn/Museaum on the Hopkinton Fair Grounds

July 20 - New London Historical Society - A presentation by Peter James which will include information about stagecoach routes in and around the Lake Sunapee area.

August 3 - The Andover Old Home Day celebration in Potter Place. The Andover Historical Society has two museums that will be open and a large flea market and other happenings - We plan to take both coaches and the Andover Lions Club Coach should be there, too.

August 12 - Presentation for the Newport Historical Society at the Richards Free Library in Newport  - This is a very active group and they may have information to share about stagecoach taverns and local stagecoach stops

August 16&17 - Hillsborough Living History Days - This very popular event draws large crowds - We set up in Hillsborough Upper Village by the church with a coach and gift shop tent - We also will do a presentation each day in the community building

August 29 through September 1 - The Hopkinton State Fair - The barn museum will be open with the vehicles on display - We need lots of help for this event - We will be setting up starting the weekend before - More information will follow on this.
