Concord Coach donated by Waitsfield Telecom
Another Coach Returns to Concord
In August this year, the Society received word that there might be a coach available in Vermont. Two members journeyed to Waitsfield and met with Eric Haskin, Vice President of Waitsfield Telecom. They had a coach, #XXXVI, that was used by J. J. Kelty on the Mad River Stage line It was their original intention to create a Vermont Heritage Museum, but that never came to be and now they wished for the coach to have a new home. After the members presented the desire of the Society to receive the coach, Eric and his brother, Gregg, decided to transfer it to the Abbot-
The coach is a six passenger “mail coach” that ran between Waitsfield and Middlesex, Vermont. After it was taken out of service, it was purchased by the Henry Ford museum and later by the Waitsfield Telecom.
Concord Coach #XIV
Built by L. Downing & Sons in 1850 in Concord, NH. A nine passenger mail coach in beautiful restored condition.
